If you have low engagement but high impressions on your content (ads, blog posts, emails, messages...), especially as a marketer, you should use the 3-3-3 rule.
But what is the 3-3-3 rule in marketing?
Basically, the 3-3-3 rule is a messaging framework—or simply a method used to capture attention and push prospects toward action.
This method has multiple versions, but I'm going to describe and explain the easiest and simplest one in my opinion. This model has three parts. Imagine your work (ad, content, video, article, email...) divided into 3 parts:
- Part 1: 3 Seconds to Grab Attention
The main goal here is to grab your prospect's attention. Some people call it the "hook"—which is also correct.
- Part 2: 30 Seconds to Explain Value
In this section, you explain the benefits of your offer or work.
- Part 3: 3 Minutes to Build Trust and Convince
Here, you should show proof and real examples to build trust and convince your audience.
You might wonder: "Why does this matter? Why not just show my work as it is?"
Well, the problem is that you won't find anyone to share your content with if you don't grab their attention first. According to research from discoveryaba.com+2 :
The average human attention span is just over 8 seconds, and most users decide in the first few seconds whether they'll stay on a page.
In fact, 8 out of 10 people read headlines, but only 2 out of 10 read past the first section of content.

Now you need to back up the second part with:

- And finally, include a CTA (Call to Action)
These 3 parts complete each other. Each one is important and should be done right so the audience will follow you along.
One more thing: to make sure you're aligned with this method, focus on:

- Testimonials

The 3-3-3 rule is fixed, but it aligns with different digital marketing concepts. Here are some ideas and inspiration to use the 3-3-3 rule in your content and campaigns:

This is the hardest one because people already know you're going to sell to them.
The solution? Focus on real problems people face that your product or service solves.
In the first 3 seconds, show the problem as a big issue—but solvable by your offer.
Once you catch their attention, the rest is easier.
- Blogs
In blogging, the first 3 seconds are your title and introduction.
Make these attractive for both people and search engines.
Throughout your blog, share real value to show readers why they should support and engage with you.
- YouTube Videos or Reels
The 3-3-3 rule works perfectly in videos:
First 3 seconds → grab attention
Next 30 seconds → show what you offer
Last 3 minutes → prove it and build trust
- What to Avoid
The main mistake in all these formats is overcomplicating the process and message.
Keep it simple so your audience can easily understand and react.

Blogging is another perfect field to apply this rule. You need to catch your readers' attention, convince them to read, and keep them reading your articles.
